The Dangers of Spec Work

What is the easiest way to a creative professional all riled? Bring up the subject hotbed of fiction work.

The most common form, the fiction work when a company or person is a "competition" to host the artists (or writers or just about any other creative professionals) for a given project are invited to submit their best work. Dozens / out hundreds / thousands of ideas that are entering the contest, for they (sometimes) an award winning entrant will choose to publish their work.

For the average person, it looks like many are a very good system. Customer gets plenty of options to choose from and a lucky artist will get his work performed. But in reality, this type of system designers and clients to devalue some of the work does not produce sub-par.

I elaborate:

Designer: You will work for free - or possibly expect to be compensated? Well, if you enter a contest, you all. Customers usually for a 100% owned and all submitted work, regardless if it was selected as the winner retains. Technically, to do it then (or resell) them whenever they want to use. Even then (heaven forbid) a design competition for the logo designs do not think about purposing. Also, how much the prize you are chasing the "carrot" is? $ 100? $ 500? How much to do that design in general is charged? And what are your odds of actually winning the competition? Think about it. S C A M

Client: I do break for you. Real designers have years of experience and always creative about market research before they even think of making a piece of a big deal, they charge a fair rate based on their skill set and behind it a strong argument with high quality work produced. Wannabe designer (or worse, poor college students) have very little experience and are desperate for funds and portfolio investment, they work for peanuts and that they will produce work without any arguments to back it up looks "pretty" is. Who are these two types of designers that entered the competition is its design? I can assure you, it's the latter. 99 complaints of shoddy workmanship and poor communication design I like a fantasy job site after using more than one client got back to me. Wonder why ...

With this understanding, I have no imagination! Movement, whose mission to educate the public about the dangers of speculative work is in full support of the stand. I hope that you visit their website and take the oath for himself.
