Insurance Agents Lose Job Security With Obamacare Ruling

Much has been discussed in the media about most aspects of the decision of the Supreme Court of the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare." I have not seen much about the fate of more than 100,000 agents and insurance brokers.
The valves are about to open for cooking mass healthcare insurance agents.The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act requires that health insurers must spend at least $ 0.80 for each $ 1.00 in premiums charged on health care in individual and small markets, and $ 0.85 on the large group market.
Insurance agents are represented by the National Association of Health Underwriters tried hard for the government to define their commissions as part of medical expenditure and failed. The argument made by insurance agents was an absurd argument.
Obviously, financial constraints are such that the health insurance companies are forced to develop new products suitable for uninsured Americans 30000000 soon to be insured under the law. There will be no room for commissions in the new products at lower cost.
Another important development is the advent of exchange health care under the new law. These exchanges are not yet up and running, but it is easy to imagine them being related to Amazon.com (AMZN), by necessity and by law, insurance companies will showcase their products in an easy to understand and easy to compare format. There will be a huge migration of business from insurance agents, health care and traditional brokers to trade.
In some ways, the migration will be similar to the migration of retail trade from the likes of Best Buy (BBY), Barnes & Noble (BKS), Borders and Amazon.com. At least in detail there are many good reasons for the masses to go to brick and mortar stores. Regarding health insurance of the argument in favor of supply through agents is very low. Some consumers may continue to use agents simply because they are creatures of habit.
Make no mistake: the volume of business written by agents will drop dramatically.
To date, major insurance companies such as WellPoint (WLP), United Health (UNH), Aetna (AET), Humana (HUM) and Cigna (CI) were reluctant to fire workers, but it will all change after the Supreme Court Court decision. Before the decision, an insurance company was just afraid that if she pulled agents or reduce their commissions in depth, they would simply promote the products of their competitors. If the Supreme Court should have overturned Obamacare, the decision to terminate agents would have the opposite effect.
